How to Add a Competitor
KompWatch monitors competitor websites and alerts you to changes in pricing, features, and content.
Steps
- Log in to your KompWatch dashboard at kompwatch.com/dashboard.
- Click Add Competitor in the top-right corner.
- Fill in:
- Name — a label for your own reference (e.g. "Acme Corp")
- URL — the page you want to monitor (e.g.
https://acmecorp.com/pricing) - CSS Selector (optional) — target a specific section of the page. Leave blank to monitor the whole page. Example:
.pricing-tableor#features
- Click Save. KompWatch immediately kicks off your first snapshot — you'll see it appear in the competitor's history within seconds.
Suggested Competitors (Chip Picker)
On the Competitors page, you'll see a row of clickable suggestion chips for popular SaaS competitors — tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, Notion, Linear, Intercom, and others. Clicking a chip pre-fills the competitor name and URL, so you can start monitoring in one click without looking up URLs manually.
- Chips only appear if you have remaining slots on your plan.
- You can still edit the pre-filled name or URL before saving.
- Don't see a competitor you want? Type it in manually — the chip list covers common tools but isn't exhaustive.
Adding Multiple Competitors at Once (Bulk Import)
If you have several competitors to add, use the bulk import option instead of adding them one at a time.
- On the Competitors page, click "Import multiple competitors" (below the Add Competitor button).
- Paste one competitor per line in the format:
Company Name, https://example.com Widgetly, https://widgetly.io Rival Inc, https://rival.com - Click Import. KompWatch will show how many were added and flag any skipped entries with the reason.
Format notes:
- Comma-separated (
Name, URL) and tab-separated are both accepted. - Lines starting with
#are treated as comments and ignored. - Up to 50 entries per import.
- Duplicate URLs (already being tracked) are automatically skipped.
- Plan limits apply — the form shows how many slots you have remaining.
What Gets Tracked
When you add a competitor, KompWatch automatically monitors five categories:
| Category | What it watches | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | Price changes, plan restructures, trial offers | On |
| Features | Product capability changes on features/main pages | On |
| Blog | New posts signalling product launches or strategy shifts | On |
| Jobs | Hiring signals — new roles often predict roadmap moves | On |
| Tech | Changes in the technology stack (e.g. added Intercom, switched analytics) | Off |
You'll see colored badges for each enabled category on your competitor list and detail page. Strikethrough badges indicate a disabled category. Tech detection is off by default because it generates more noise than the other categories — enable it if you want early signals about competitor infrastructure changes.
Tips
- Be specific with selectors. Monitoring just the pricing table reduces noise from navigation/footer changes.
- Monitor key pages. Good candidates:
/pricing,/features, homepage. - Check your plan limits. Free plan supports 2 competitors; Pro supports 10; Team supports 50.
Plan Limits
| Plan | Max Competitors |
|---|---|
| Free | 2 |
| Pro | 10 |
| Team | 50 |
