Using KompWatch Insights for Sales and Competitive Deals
KompWatch monitors competitor websites automatically and delivers AI-generated summaries to your inbox. This article explains how to route those insights to your sales team and use them in active deals.
Getting Alerts to Your Sales Team
The fastest way to get competitor changes in front of reps is via Slack. Set up a #competitive-intel channel and connect it in Settings → Integrations → Slack. Every new change above your severity threshold posts there automatically.
For deal-specific intel, reps can filter by competitor on the dashboard — useful the night before a call with a prospect who's evaluating that competitor.
Reading the Digest as a Sales Brief
Every digest entry includes three fields that double as competitive talking points:
| Field | What it is | How to use it in a call |
|---|---|---|
| Change type | Pricing / Feature / Blog / Job / Tech | Quickly classify whether this is positioning ammo or just noise |
| Summary | Plain-English description of the change | Read this before the call — know what changed without visiting the page |
| What this means for you | AI-generated strategic implication | This is your talking point. Quote it directly or riff on it. |
The "What this means for you" line is generated by Claude specifically to translate raw changes into competitive positioning. For example:
What this means for you: Competitor just removed their free tier — prospects who relied on that plan are now in the market. A strong moment to lead with KompWatch's free plan in your next outreach.
You don't need to interpret the change — the AI does it. Your job is to act on it.
Setting Up Deal-Based Monitoring
If a prospect mentions they're also evaluating Acme Corp, add Acme to your tracked competitors immediately. Set the CSS selector to their pricing page if pricing is the battleground:
- Go to kompwatch.com/competitors → Add competitor
- Enter Acme's URL and set the CSS selector to
.pricingor#pricing-sectionif you know it, or leave it asbodyfor full-page monitoring - Monitoring starts within the hour — you'll see any changes before your next call
See Adding a Competitor and CSS Selector Targeting for setup details.
Useful Signals to Watch Before a Sales Call
| Signal type | What to look for | What it means for the deal |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing change | Price increase, tier removal, plan rename | Prospect may have cost anxiety — lead with your pricing stability or free trial |
| New feature | New capability on their features page | Know what you're being compared to — have a response ready |
| Job listings | Surge in sales or ML hiring | Competitor is scaling fast — prospect may hear about them more |
| Blog post | "Enterprise", "security", "compliance" in titles | Competitor is repositioning — find the positioning gap |
Job listing tracking is covered in detail at Reading Competitor Job Listing Signals.
Routing High-Severity Changes to Sales Leadership
Critical and High severity changes — pricing overhauls, major feature launches, acquisition signals — may warrant a direct Slack message or email to the sales team lead, not just a channel post. You can configure this in Settings → Notifications → Alert routing.
For custom routing or webhook integration with your CRM or sales tool, see Integrations and Notifications.
Building Informal Battlecards
KompWatch doesn't generate battlecards automatically (it's on the roadmap), but you can build a running battlecard from your digest history:
- Go to kompwatch.com/competitors/[id] and open any tracked competitor
- Browse the change history — High and Critical changes are the battlecard material
- Export via Settings → Export → JSON and paste the summaries into your battlecard template
See Exporting Your Data for export options.
What KompWatch Does Not Replace
KompWatch monitors website changes — it does not capture win/loss data, record sales call transcripts, or sync to Salesforce. If your team needs a full win/loss workflow with CRM integration, KompWatch is the monitoring layer that feeds it.
